It's nice to see a big-box store giving back.
Wal-Mart and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) have granted $1 million to Pheasants Forever (PF) and Ducks Unlimited (DU) to help protect more than 10,785 acres of habitat for birds in North and South Dakota. Wal Mart takes a lot of flack but this is an instance where the mammoth retailer gets slap on the back.

I applaud Wal-Mart for that move. Very nice to hear.

I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, but it looks like they did this one right. Good for them.

Not to get off subject here, but I'm wondering what it will take to get some private money involved in the Sage Grouse situation.

Eric: From what I've read about the Farm Bill the Sage Grouse might be in for even more problems. I do not know of any specific organization that lobbies for Sage Grouse like PF does for Pheasant and RGS does for Ruffed Grouse. Maybe another big-box store that sells outdoors equipment might want to help? I would think a comapny like Cabelas would want to invest in wildlife habitat, since a portion of their retail sales depends on hunters purchasing bird hunting equipment.
